
Ohio State Concludes Fall portion of the season With Matches against UTEP

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State rifle team fired scores of 4709 on both Saturday and Sunday in El Paso, Texas against the host UTEP Miners.
On Saturday, the team fired an aggregate score of 4709 and were led by freshman Gabriella Sprague who fired a career best aggregate of 1181. In smallbore the team fired a score of 2336 led by a career best from John Hamilton who fired a 589. He was followed by Gabriella Sprague (584), Lillian Warren (583), Paige Hollowell (580), and Derek Keiser (578). Firing as an individual, Eva Horgan fired a career best 577 while Andrew Duross rounded out individual scoring with a 574.
In air rifle, the team fired a score of 2373 led by a career best 597 from Gabriella Sprague. She was followed by a season high of 596 from Derek Keiser while Paige Hollowell (592), John Hamilton (588), and Eva Horgan (588) rounded out team scoring. Lillian Warren and Andrew Duross both fired scores of 589 which were their season highs.
On Sunday, the Buckeyes again fired an aggregate score of 4709 this time led by a team best season high of 1184 from Derek Keiser. In smallbore the team fired a 2335 led by Derek Keiser who posted a match high 588. He was followed by Lillian Warren (583), Gabriella Sprague (582), John Hamilton (582), and Paige Hollowell (577). Andrew Duross fired a 563 firing as an individual.
In air rifle the team equaled their season best team score with a 2374 again led by Gabriella Sprague and Derek Keiser who for a second day in a row fired scores of 597 and 596 respectively. Paige Hollowell (592), John Hamilton (589), and Eva Horgan (585) rounded out team scoring. Andrew Duross posted a 583 firing as an individual.
Coach Tanoue: "We had a very solid two days in El Paso to conclude the fall portion of our season. We had quite a few season and career best performances in both smallbore and air rifle which was fantastic and two have both matches be very consistent was a good way to finish off the fall. We have had some really great individual performances so far this season, but I know that the team is eager to reach higher and push for more in the spring."
Ohio State concludes the fall season ranked 11th with a three-score average of 4711.
The Buckeyes will return to the range at TCU in Fort Worth, Texas on January 19 and 20, 2025.
