Mendez Tops Bartlett at NWCA All-Star Classic

COLUMBUS, Ohio-Ohio State's Jesse Mendez, the defending 141-pound Big Ten and NCAA champion, earned a 4-1 win by decision over Penn State's Beau Bartlett in the 2024 NWCA All-Star Classic Saturday In State College, Pennsylvania.Â
Mendez, ranked No. 2 nationally, defeated No. 3 Bartlett for the both the 2024 Big Ten and NCAA Championships.Â
In the match Saturday, Mendez scored first with a takedown at the end of the first period for a 3-0 lead. Bartlett earned an escape to start the second for his lone point of the match.Â
Mendez added an escape in the third to secure the win.Â
Nick Feldman, a redshirt sophomore ranked No. 3 nationally, also participated in the event at heavyweight. He fell to Campbell's No. 8 Taye Ghadiali, 8-3.Â
No. 6 Ohio State will battle Edinboro Sunday in the first road dual of the season at 1 p.m. The match will be streamed by FloWrestling.org.
