COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 14 Ohio State men's hockey team earned a 3-2 victory over Lindenwood on Saturday to sweep its series against the Lions and improve to 9-2-1 on the year.

The Short Story
Lindenwood opened scoring early in the first period, but Gunnarwolfe Fontaine scored on the power play later in the period to tie the score.

The Buckeyes took the lead in the second period after a goal from Sam Deckhut and the Lions tied things up once again a few minutes later. The game-winning goal was scored by Davis Burnside less than one minute later.

The teams went scoreless in the third period and Ohio State secured the sweep. Burnside had a two-point game (one goal, one assist) and seven other Buckeyes had one point in the game. Goalie Logan Terness made 26 saves.

How it Happened

Lindenwood struck first on a Jaeden Mercier goal 1:38 into the first period to put the Lions ahead, 1-0.
At 12:03 in the first, Gunnarwolfe Fontaine scored on the power play to tie the score, 1-1. He was assisted by Davis Burnside.and Riley Thompson.
The Buckeyes outshot the Lions, 12-5, in the first period.
The Buckeyes took their first lead of the game at 6:45 in the second period off a goal from Sam Deckhut. Assists went to James Hong and Aiden Hansen-Bukata.
At 13:07, Mercier's second goal of the game for Lindenwood tied things up, 2-2.
Burnside scored the game-winner just 39 seconds later, at 13:46 in the second period. He was assisted by Riley Thompson and Theo Wallberg, converting 4-on-4.
Logan Terness had eight of his 26 saves in the third period to hold the Lions off.
Hansen-Bukata led the Buckeyes with four blocked shots. Brent Johnson blocked three and Patrick Guzzo blocked two.u
The Buckeyes were 1-for-5 on the power play and 5-for-6 on the penalty kill.

Burnside's 12 points are second-most on the team. He is tied for the team lead in goals with six.
