Duo helped lead Ohio State to two wins at Wisconsin
COLUMBUS, Ohio – After helping the Ohio State men's hockey team to a sweep at then-No. 16 Wisconsin last weekend, sophomore forward Max Montes has been named the Big Ten First Star of the Week and senior goalie Logan Terness received Big Ten Third Star of the Week accolades. The No. 19/17t Buckeyes won 2-1 in overtime Friday and 2-1 Saturday to move to 3-0-1 on the year.
Â
Montes extended his goal streak to four with three goals in the series, including both gamewinners. He tallied twice Friday, tying the game late in the first period and then notching the winner with 17 seconds remaining in overtime. It was his third career two-goal game and second at Wisconsin. Saturday, Montes gave the Buckeyes a 2-0 lead early in the third period. The native of Wisconsin leads the Buckeyes with five goals on the year and is third nationally with 1.25 goals per game. This is the first league weekly award for Montes.
