COLUMBUS, Ohio – Week in and week out, Buckeyes raise the standard of excellence set at Ohio State, whether that be in competition, in the classroom or in the community. 'Buckeye Spotlight' recognizes Buckeye student-athletes who had noteworthy accomplishments both in contests and beyond the box score.
Jocelyn Amos | Women's Hockey | So. | Ailsa Craig, Ontario
- Amos scored her sixth-round shot in the Buckeyes' shootout against Minnesota Saturday to help the team finish the series against the then-ranked No. 2 Gophers with five of six conference points.
- She also scored and added an assist on the game-winning goal in the Buckeyes' 4-3 win over the Gophers in game one.
- She finished the weekend 28-for-41 from the faceoff dot and ranks first nationally with 105 wins and a .724 win percentage at the dot.
Damien Carfagna | Men's Hockey | Jr. | Wood-Ridge, N.J.
- Carfagna helped the Buckeyes to a 1-0-1 opening weekend against American International, sharing the team lead with four points and blocking a team-best five shots and notching a +3 rating.
- The defenseman had an assist and three blocked shots in the 3-3 tie to open the year and then posted a career-high three points, with a shorthanded empty net goal and career-high tying two assists, in a 5-2 victory. He posted a +3 mark and blocked two shots in the victory.
- Carfagna and the Buckeyes open Big Ten play this weekend at No. 16 Wisconsin.
Blaine Simpson | Pistol | Fr. | Sidney, Ohio
- In his first collegiate meet, Simpson had the top aggregate score as Ohio State opened its 2024-25 season at home versus Navy.
- Simpson finished first in the standard pistol (555), fifth in the sport pistol (556) and third in the air pistol (566). His aggregate score was 1677.
- Ohio State is at home again this weekend when it hosts MIT on Saturday, Oct. 19 and Sunday, Oct. 20.
Kailyn Dudukovich | Women's Soccer | Sr. | West Chester, Ohio
- Dudukovich scored three goals last week and upped her nation-leading total to seven game-winning goals on the season.
- The senior netted her 13th goal of the year against Minnesota on Thursday night and then on Sunday at Purdue, she scored a pair of first-half goals, including the game-winner, in a 4-2 victory.
- She now has 15 goals on the season, which is second in the country, and she has tied the program record for goals in a career with 40.
Emily Londot | Women's Volleyball | Gr. | Utica, Ohio
- Graduate opposite Londot became just the second player in program history to record 2,000 career kills, 2,000 career points and 1,000 career digs on Sunday as she notched her 2,000th career kill in set point to win the third set. The only other player to ever reach all three of these milestones for Ohio State is Stacey Gordon.
- Sunday's match against the Wolverines was the first time in program history that the Buckeyes played in the Schottenstein Center. With 8,844 fans in attendance, Ohio State set a program attendance record and drew the largest crowd ever in the state of Ohio for a regular season collegiate match.
- Londot continues to have a stellar season for the Buckeyes as she recorded a match-high 15 kills in the sweep at Northwestern on Thursday, adding six digs and five blocks, and turned around to lead Sunday's match with 24 kills, adding a season-high 16 digs and five blocks. Londot continues to lead the Big Ten in kills/set (4.65) and points/set (5.48), ranking in the top 10 in the nation in both categories.
Luciana Perry | Women's Tennis | So. | Export, Pa.
- Perry won the first ITA Midwest Regional singles title in program history Tuesday.
- The sophomore won six matches, dropping just two sets, in her run to the title.
- Monday, she rallied to down the Wolverines' Piper Charney 3-6, 7-6 (9), 7-5. Her semifinal victory clinched a berth into this fall's NCAA tournament.
- In the final against Michigan's Julia Fliegner, Perry rolled to a 6-1, 6-1 victory.
