COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State forward Emma Sears was selected by Racing Louisville in the second round of the 2024 NWSL Draft on Friday night. She was the 28th overall pick.
The Dublin, Ohio native is the fifth Buckeye selected in the NWSL draft, and the third in the second round. She joins Lindsay Agnew (2nd Round in 2016), Nichelle Prince (3rd Round in 2016), Izzy Rodriguez (4th Round in 2021) and Kayla Fischer (2nd Round in 2023). Fischer was also selected by Racing Louisville last January and she went on to appear in 16 matches for the club with nine starts this season.

Her 25 goals are 12th-most in school history while her 25 assists rank 11th and her 213 shot attempts are eighth-most all-time. The three-time All-Big Ten honoree is just the fifth Buckeye to earn United Soccer Coaches All-Region honors three times.
This season, Sears scored three goals and had four assists. She made an immediate impact in her first game with an assist against Ohio and then scored the first goal in a 2-0 victory over Auburn. She later assisted on both goals in a 2-1 win over Indiana and then had a goal and an assist in the win over Michigan in her final home game.
She graduated in December of 2023 with a degree in health sciences, as well as a minor nutrition.
