COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Heavyweight Nick Feldman orchestrated a come-from-behind win in the final bout against No. 8 Cornell Jan. 5 to help the Buckeyes win 21-20 and earn Big Ten Conference Wrestler of the Week honors, the league office announced Thursday.
Down 4-3 with less than 30 seconds left in the third period against the Big Red's No. 17 Lewis Fernandes, Feldman, a redshirt freshman from Quarryville, Pennsylvania, got the match-winning takedown in front of more than 4,300 fans at the Covelli Center to give the Buckeyes their second-consecutive win over a Top 10 foe.
Ohio State trailed 20-18 heading into the final bout of the night and with the three team points for Feldman's 6-4 win by decision, the Buckeyes improved to 8-1 on the season in dual competition.
The No. 6 Buckeyes are back home Friday in the Big Ten Conference opener against No. 25 Illinois (7 p.m./B1G+).
