Women's Golf to Honor Fallen Ohio State Police Officer

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women's golf team will once again participate in the Folds of Honor program. During the 2023-24 season, the Buckeyes will honor fallen Ohio State police officer, Michael Blankenship.
Officer Blankenship served with the Ohio State Police Department for 19 years before tragically losing his life in the line of duty on Feb. 10, 1997. He is survived by his wife and two daughters.
The Buckeyes will carry a bag bearing Officer Blankenship's name throughout the season. At the end of the season, the bag will be auctioned off, with the funds raised going directly to Folds of Honor to help fund scholarships.
Founded in 2007, the mission of Folds of Honor is to provide educational scholarships to the spouses and children of America's fallen or disabled service members and first responders. Since its inception, over 44,000 scholarships have been awarded. Ohio State has been home to almost 100 scholarship recipients, equaling nearly $500,000 in awards.
Ohio State opens its season at the Branch Law Firm/Dick McGuire Invitational in Albuquerque, N.M. Sept. 11-12 and Faith Choi will carry the Folds of Honor bag.
