Had 12 points in three games last weekend, including five goals
COLUMBUS, Ohio - Ohio State senior forward Makenna Webster is this week's Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week, the conference office announced this afternoon. Webster earns the honor after a three-game weekend that saw her total 12 points (five goals, two assists).
In a 4-1 home-opening triumph over New Hampshire on Friday, Webster scored twice and added an assist. Two days later, on Sunday, she had a hand in each of Ohio State's goals in a 2-1 win against Bucknell, scoring one and assisting on the other. And yesterday, Webster scored twice in a 5-0 shutout over UC Davis.
Webster has at least one point in all five games this season and has scored a goal in four consecutive contests.
Webster currently leads the Big Ten with 17 total points and is second in goals scored (seven). Nationally, she is second among all Division I players in points and is second in goals. She's helped the Ohio State offense score two or more goals in every game so far. The Buckeyes currently rank sixth nationally – and first in the Big Ten – scoring offense, averaging 4.00 goals per game.
Webster and the rest of her Buckeye teammates will go for their sixth straight season-opening win on Friday when they take on No. 9-ranked Louisville at 6 p.m. in Louisville, Ky. On Sunday, Ohio State returns home to face Stanford (1 p.m.).
