COLUMBUS, Ohio – Sophomore Ashton Bilow found the back of the net in the 60th minute Monday to give Ohio State (0-2-2) a 1-0 lead over No. 22 Washington (2-1-1) but the Huskies drew even with a late goal to earn the draw in the second game of the IU Classic for both teams.
The game was played at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium in Columbus.
The Buckeyes dictated the tempo in the first half, outshooting the Huskies 10-1 with a 4-0 advantage in shots on goal. Ohio State earned a 5-1 edge in corner kicks as well after the first 45 minutes but did not score.
Bilow changed all that with an unassisted goal in the second half before the Huskies added a late goal.
The Huskies were the aggressor in the second half to finish with a 14-13 lead in shots for the game.
How it Happened
Bilow gathered a deflection deep in Washington territory and broke free on the Huskies keeper. Bilow then beat the downed keeper with a short chip shot into the right corner of the net.
It was Bilow's second career goal and first this season. He was making his second career start and 17th overall appearance.
Washington tied the game with a goal by Mani Diop on a play that bounced around in front of the Ohio State net before crossing the line.
Notes:
Freshman Andre Roberts made his first career start. Sophomore Marko Borkovic returned from injury to make his first appearance of the season.
Max Trejo made the third start of the season in goal for the Buckeyes. He made four saves on the night on five Washington shots on net.
