COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State junior Charlie Clark and former Buckeye Hunter Armstrong have been named to the United States National Team roster for 2023-24, announced by USA Swimming this week. This is the third straight season making the National Team for the Buckeye duo.
"The 2023-24 National Team roster truly showcases the depth of American swimming," USA Swimming National Team Managing Director Lindsay Mintenko said. "A young group of emerging swimmers will learn from veteran leaders as the athletes prepare for the U.S. Olympic Team Trials and the Olympic Games next summer."
The U.S. National Team is comprised of the six athletes with the fastest times in each individual Olympic event, from the combined results of an approved USA Swimming, AQUA or international competition between Jan. 1, 2023 through Sept. 9, 2023.
Clark turned in qualifying times in both the 800 free and the 1500 free at the Phillips 66 National Championships in July. Clark's time of 7:51.65 in the 800 free is the fourth-fastest in the U.S. and he turned in the second-fastest time in the 1500 free, touching the wall at 14:50.84.
Armstrong also turned in his qualifying time at the Phillips 66 National Championships. In the 100 back, he swam the second-fastest time in the U.S. with a 52.33.
