
Meet the Buckeye Men’s Hockey Newcomers

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State men's hockey team has welcomed 15 new student-athletes to the Scarlet and Gray for the 2023-24 season. The group, with six forwards, seven defensemen and two goalies, includes eight freshmen and seven transfers (two graduate students). The new Buckeyes hail from 11 states in the US and two Canadian provinces, along with a native of Sweden.
The Buckeyes open the season on the road at Mercyhurst Oct. 7 before hosting Lindenwood in Value City Arena Oct. 13-14 to begin their home slate. Full Schedule | Tickets

- Transferred to Ohio State after two years at UConn; played in 24 games over the last two years for the Huskies, with a 2.56 goals-against average and .912 save percentage in 2022-23
- Spent three years in the BCHL with the Trail Smoke Eaters
- 2019-20 BCHL Rookie of the Year, BCHL Second Team All-Star and All-Rookie Team honoree
- Played in 59 BCHL games during his career, with 34-17-4 record, 2.57 goals-against average and .927 save percentage

- Spent last two seasons in the USHL with Muskegon; 53 points, with 44 assists, in 118 regular-season with the Lumberjacks

- Won gold medal with Team USA at 2022 World Junior A Challenge
- Local product – first time he skated was on the OSU Ice Rink; came up through Ohio Blue Jackets AAA program and graduated from Dublin Coffman High School

- Seventh-round draft pick of the New York Rangers in 2018

- Won U14 and U16 USA Hockey National Championships with Chicago Mission; current Buckeye junior Cam Thiesing was also on the championship teams

Wisconsin (B1G) / Waterloo Black Hawks (USHL)
- Played a season and a half at Wisconsin, skating in 45 games
- Finished 2022-23 campaign in Waterloo in the USHL (7g, 20a)
- Part of U.S. National Team Development Program for two years
- Father Jeff played nearly 750 games in the NHL and brother Logan, currently with Tampa Bay, has skated in nearly 100 NHL games so far

Dubuque Fighting Saints (USHL)
- Spent three full seasons with Dubuque in the USHL
- Notched 44 points, including 23 goals, in 2022-23
- Regular-season totals in the USHL include 46 goals and 45 assists for 91 points in 163 games played
