- Ohio State opens its 31st season of women's soccer with a pair of home matches this weekend, beginning with Miami (Ohio) on Thursday evening. On Sunday afternoon, Ohio State will entertain Buffalo.
- The Buckeyes have a 17-9-4 all-time record in season-openers. They won last year's opener 1-0 at Kansas on a 69th-minute goal by Emma Sears. That was their first season-opening win since 2017.
- Ohio State has not won a season-opener at home since beating Kent State 3-0 in 2016.
- The Buckeyes are 2-0-0 all-time against Miami (Ohio). They won 6-0 on Oct. 22, 1997, and then won 1-0 on a 39th minute goal by Kayla Fischer on Sept. 13, 2019. Both of those games were played at home.

- Senior Peyton McNamara and junior Kailyn Dudukovich are the team's leading returning scorers as each are coming off a career-high seven goals last season. McNamara scored the Buckeyes' last two goals of last season, scoring twice in the NCAA Tournament second round game at Arkansas. Dudukovich notched seven goals in each of her first two collegiate seasons.
- McNamara returned late in preseason training as she was helping the Jamaican national team reach the knockout stage of the FIFA Women's World Cup for the first time in the country's history.
- Dudukovich, McNamara and junior defender Sydney Jones were all named Big Ten Preseason Players to Watch this fall.
