13 current and former Buckeyes at camps across the league
COLUMBUS, Ohio – Every July, NHL teams around the league host development camps to prepare players for the future. This year, 13 current and former Ohio State Buckeyes are taking part.
Three Buckeyes who started their professional careers after the 2022-23 season, signing NHL deals, are at camp with their new teams – Jakub Dobes (Montreal), Mason Lohrei (Boston) and Cole McWard (Vancouver). Dobes and Lohrei were draft picks, while McWard signed as a free agent.
Stephen Halliday, the Buckeyes' leading scorer last year as a freshman, and Theo Wallberg, an incoming freshman, are at camp with Ottawa, the team that drafted them both.
Rising seniors Patrick Guzzo and Joe Dunlap are at Calgary and Vancouver camp, respectively. Both skaters had career highs in goals and points last year.
Cam Thiesing (San Jose) and Davis Burnside (Winnipeg), the Buckeyes' Top 2 goal scorers a season ago, are free agent invitees to their respective camps.
Incoming transfers Logan Terness (Seattle), Damien Carfagna (New York Rangers) and Brent Johnson (Washington) are at camps as free agent invitees. Incoming freshman Nathan McBrayer is at camp with his hometown Columbus Blue Jackets.
