
Clark Sets Program Record, Punches Ticket to World Championships

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – On the first day of the Phillips 66 National Championships in Indianapolis, Charlie Clark finished the 1500 free in a program record time of 14:50.84 en route to earning a second-place finish. Clark broke his own record of 14:51.78, which he set last year at this event. His finish qualifies him for a spot on the Team USA roster for the FINA World Championships next month in Japan.
Amy Fulmer also had a great night for the Buckeyes, picking up a win in the B final of the 100 free with a time of 54.27. It is a personal-best time for Fulmer and just .06 seconds off the Buckeyes' program record of 54.21.
Alyssa Graves placed sixth in the B final of the 200 fly, finishing in a personal-best time of 2:11.32.
Michael Brinegar, a pro who trains with the Buckeyes, finished ninth in the 1500 free, touching the wall at 15:18.14. Mason Edmund was right behind, finishing 10th with a personal-best time of 15:18.80.
Katherine Zenick swam in the C final of the 100 free, finishing in a time of 55.38. Caleb Ellis swam in the D final of the 200 fly. He swam a time of 2:06.09.
Gwen Woodbury (8:50.58), Lucy Malys (8:52.76) and Sanna Peterson (8:54.43) swam the 800 free. Malys and Peterson each shaved 50-plus seconds off their seed times.
The Phillips 66 National Championships continue June 28-July 1. Prelims will begin at 10:00 a.m. each day with finals following in the evening at 7:00 p.m.
