COLUMBUS, Ohio – Week in and week out, Buckeye student-athletes raise the standard of excellence set at Ohio State, whether that be in competition, in the classroom, or in the community. ‘Buckeye Spotlight’ recognizes student-athletes who had noteworthy accomplishments both in contests and beyond the box score.
Throughout the 50th anniversary of Title IX, Ohio State Athletics continues to celebrate exceptional female student-athletes and women’s teams throughout history, highlighting a new moment or person every week. This week, the Olympic success of the women’s hockey program is highlighted.
Here are this week’s Buckeye Spotlight student-athletes:
Rowing Team
- Finished second at the 2023 Big Ten Championships Sunday in Indianapolis.
- Anneta Kyridou was named First Team All-Big Ten while sister Maria Kyridou and Jessy Vermeer earned 2nd Team honors.
- Three Ohio State boats finished first in the seven-race event: The 2V8, 2V4 and 1N8 all were crowned champs.
- Another three Buckeye boats claimed second: 2N8, 3V4 and 1V4.
- The team now waits for the NCAA Selection show at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday to learn about its spot in the 2023 NCAA Championships. Watch the live stream on Tuesday on NCAA.com.

Zidane Brown | Men’s Track & Field | So. | Yonkers, N.Y.
- Zidane Brown contributed to 12 points for the Buckeye men, the most by an individual on the squad, this past weekend at the 2023 Big Ten Outdoor Championships.
- Brown finished as the runner-up in the 400m by running a personal-best 45.75 in the finals. He also ran a leg on the 4x400m relay squad that finished fourth (3:07.48) and the 4x100m relay squad that finished 10th (41.07).

Yanique Dayle | Women’s Track & Field | Gr. | St. Elizabeth, Jamaica
- Graduate Yanique Dayle contributed to a whopping 36 points to lead the Buckeye women to a runner-up finish at the 2023 Big Ten Outdoor Championships this past weekend.
- Dayle was a member of the 4x100m relay squad that won the Big Ten Championship with a meet record of 43.17 to break the meet record the squad set last season. Dayle also ran a leg on the winning 4x400m relay squad (3:29.25).
- Individually, Dayle won the 200m Big Ten Championship (22.87) and finished third in the 100m (11.19) after posting a PR of 11.17 to tie for the third-fastest in program history in the prelims.

Henry Kaczmar | Baseball | Fr. | Bath, Ohio
- Kaczmar helped the Buckeyes to a 5-0 record last week, including a three-game sweep on UNC Greensboro to extend their win streak to six games.
- Kaczmar batted .412 on the week and had three multi-hit games. He totaled seven total hits on the week, including one double, one triple and one homerun.
- Kaczmar had multiple RBIs in three of five games, totaling seven on the week. He also scored five runs and had one stolen base.

Jack Myers | Men’s Lacrosse | Sr. | Bethesda, Md.
- 2023 Ohio State graduate Jack Myers was drafted to the Premier Lacrosse League last week by the Chrome Lacrosse Club.
- He was the 20th overall pick in the 2023 PLL College Draft, going in the third round.
- This season for the Buckeyes, Myers led the team with 42 points on 20 goals and a team-high 22 assists. He finishes his Ohio State career top-three in program history in points (236) and assists (115).
