
Lyle Yost Claims National Title on 1-Meter Board

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – On the second day of the NCAA Championships, senior Lyle Yost won the national title in the 1-meter dive. Yost is the first Buckeye since Patrick Jeffrey in 1988 to win an NCAA title on the 1-meter board and the first since Colin Zeng (platform) in 2016 to win a national title in any event.
Yost was the top qualifier going into finals and led through all six dives. He scored a 443.95, finishing with a four-plus point lead over second-place Andrew Capobianco from Indiana.

After two days of competition, the Buckeyes are in 15th place with 31.5 points.
Meet Notes
- Ruslan Gaziev earned Honorable Mention All-America honors in the 50 free; he tied for 14th place with a time of 19.10, which is a top-five program time.
- Yost earns First Team All-America honors with his first place finish in the 1-meter dive. Jack Matthews placed fourth in the consolation final with a score of 358.20 to earn Honorable Mention All-America.
- The Buckeyes closed out the night with a 16th-place finish in the 200 free relay. Gaziev, Daniel Baltes, Mario McDonald and James Ward teamed up to swim the relay in 1:16.66. Their time is a top-five program time and earned them Honorable Mention All-America honors.
