
Buckeyes Win to Finish Weekend, Defeat No. 5 Virginia 4-0

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 1 ranked Ohio State Buckeyes bounced back against No. 5 Virginia with a dominant win to finish the weekend at the ITA Indoor Team National Championships.
After falling Saturday in a tough match to No. 7 Texas, the Buckeyes never wavered against the Cavaliers en route to a 4-0 sweep. This marks the second time in as many weeks that the Buckeyes have defeated the Cavaliers after winning 4-1 at Virginia on Feb. 11.
Ohio State was led by No. 75 Robert Cash, who finished the weekend undefeated in singles play. While No. 9 JJ Tracy and Cannon Kingsley fell in doubles play, the two both pulled out singles wins to help the Buckeyes clinch the shutout.
The Buckeyes will return home from Chicago and look forward to a matchup with Notre Dame this Saturday.
Doubles
- On 11, the Buckeyes dropped the doubles point against the Cavaliers, but Ohio State fought hard on Sunday night, securing the double point with wins at doubles one and two.
- The Buckeyes started off strong as Cash and Boulais defeated Virginia’s Mans Dahlberg and Inaki Montes. The duo did not surrender a point, securing a 6-0 win to start the match.
- Tracy and Kingsley came up just short against Virginia’s Alexander Kiefer and J vd Schulenburg at third doubles. The Buckeye pair fell 6-4.
- Buckeyes Andrew Lutschaunig and James Trotter battled Virginia’s No. 20 Ryan Goetz and Chris Rodesch into a tiebreak on court one. The Buckeyes came out on top with a 7-6(3) win to secure the doubles point and secure momentum heading into singles.
Singles
- Kingsley finished first for the Buckeyes to add another tally towards clinching. The standout senior defeated No. 29 Rodesch 6-3, 6-2 in swift fashion. It was a good finish for Kingsley who had a tough battle late last night against Texas.
- Cash continued his tremendous season as he remained undefeated by defeatingVirginia’s Kiefer 6-4, 6-2. Cash has remained dominant for the Buckeyes at singles five and six while going 3-0 for the weekend.
- 9 JJ Tracy clinched the win for the Buckeyes at three singles with a 6-4, 6-4 win over No. 30 Schulenburg.

The No. 1 Buckeyes will play at home at the Ty Tucker Tennis Center on Saturday Feb. 25 against the Irish of Notre Dame. First serve is set for 1:00 PM.
