Wootton Drafted By Chicago Fire FC Tuesday

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Laurence Wootton, who finished a stellar Ohio State career in the fall, was drafted by Chicago Fire FC with the sixth pick, 64th overall, of the 3rd round in the 2024 MLS SuperDraft Tuesday.
Wootton, a native of Stoke-on-Trent, England, was named Big Ten Midfielder of the Year for the second-consecutive season in 2023 while becoming a First Team All-Big Ten selection for the fourth-consecutive campaign.
He is the first Buckeye to earn All-Big Ten First Team honors four times. No other Buckeye has earned the honor more than twice. In addition, Wootton is the only two-time winner of the Big Ten Midfielder of the Year honor in Ohio State history.
Wootton is only the sixth player in Big Ten history to be named First Team All-Big Ten four times.
As a senior in 2023, Wootton led Ohio State with 10 points and five goals. He finished his career with 17 goals in 62 matches and 61 starts.
The last time Ohio State had a player selected in the MLS SuperDraft was in January of 2021 when CC Uche, Joshua Jackson-Ketchup and Noah Lawrence were taken.
