COLUMBUS, Ohio – Week in and week out, Buckeye student-athletes raise the standard of excellence set at Ohio State, whether that be in competition, in the classroom, or in the community. 'Buckeye Spotlight' recognizes student-athletes who had noteworthy accomplishments both in contests and beyond the box score.

- Sunday, 56 current and former Ohio State student-athletes received degrees at the university's autumn commencement ceremonies.
- Gene Smith, Ohio State Senior Vice President and Wolfe Foundation Endowed Athletics Director, delivered the commencement address.
- The autumn graduates included national champions, All-Americans and record setters from a wide number of teams. The full graduate list is online HERE.
- Gardiner made her National Women's Team debut with Hockey Canada last week in the December Rivalry Series games played in Ontario.
- The forward, who skated in both Thursday and Saturday's games, reconnected with former teammates Sophie Jaques and Emma Maltais on the roster.
- Gardiner leads the Buckeyes, who are off to their best start in program history, with 23 points and 11 goals on the year.
- The Ohio State women's hockey team is back in action Jan. 12-13 at Minnesota.
- Gayle Jr. led the Buckeyes with a game-high 19 points in the CBS Sports Classic win over UCLA in Atlanta.
- He was a career-best 7-of-8 from the foul line and tied his season high with five rebounds.
- Gayle Jr. has matched his point total (162 points) from last year through the first 11 games of this season.
- Redshirt senior guard Greene made her comeback after suffering a season-ending injury last December. She received a standing ovation from Buckeye Nation in the Schott on Dec. 10 as she took the court for the first time this season.
- Greene got her first big minutes on Friday in a 73-49 win over Grand Valley State, scoring six points and adding a rebound, an assist and a steal in nearly 21 minutes on the court.
- She also picked up a pair of offensive rebounds against No. 2/2 UCLA on Monday as she continues to get back into the regular lineup and increase the Buckeyes' depth with conference play right around the corner.
- Stover, who grew up on a cattle farm and has always been outstanding in his field, was one of 15 football players to graduate Sunday, earning his degree in agricultural systems management.
- Stover had an outstanding season for the Buckeyes, finishing second on the team in receptions (41), receiving yards (576) and touchdown receptions (5).
- He was named a first-team all-Big Ten Conference tight end and he was also named the Kwalick-Clark Big Ten Tight End of the Year, Ohio State's first such recipient of this major conference award.
- Stover ranks second all-time among Ohio State tight ends in career receptions (82) and career yards (1,056) and he is tied for third in career touchdowns (10).
