- This is the third time this season Ohio State has raced in Madison. Â
- At the Badger Classic Sept. 9, Addie Engel captured the women's title, while most of the women's team was limited because of illness. For the men, Kevin Agnew, Giovanni Copploe and Sean Carney all recorded Top 10 finishes.
- At the Big Ten Championships two weeks ago, Engel claimed her second-straight conference title and Daniella Santos finished eighth to earn Second Team All-Big Ten honors. Zubin Jha led the men with an 18th-place finish.
- Last year, the women were second as a team at regionals to earn an automatic berth into the NCAA Championships. All seven Buckeyes who ran last season are on the roster again this season: Addie Engel, Daniella Santos, Andrea Kuhn, Akemi Von Scherr, Audrey DeSantis, Gia Napoleon and Annie Allen.
- For the men, current Buckeyes Zubin Jha, Kaleb Martin, Sean Carney, John Cuozzo and Giovanni Copploe ran at the 2022 meet.
- Last year, Engel (second), Santos (seventh)and Kuhn (ninth) finished in the Top 10 to earn All-Region honors.
- Engel placed third at the 2021 championship and is a two-time All-Region honoree.
- Heading into the Great Lakes Regional, the women are ranked fifth in the region. Notre Dame is first, followed by Michigan State, Wisconsin and Michigan, with the Irish, Spartans and Badgers ranked in the Top 30 nationally. The Buckeye men are ranked 11th in the region.
- Engel, now a two-time Big Ten Champion and a 2023 All-American, has been named Big Ten Runner of the Week three times this season and was also recognized as the NCAA and USTFCCCA National Runner of the Week. She has placed in the Top 16 in 19 of her last 20 races (with the lone exception when she ran as an individual at the 2021 NCAA Championships). Engel started the year with first-place finishes at Wright State and Wisconsin, placed 11th at Virginia and was the runner-up at both Loyola and Texas A&M before winning the Big Ten title by nearly 10 seconds. She has 11 career Top 2 finishes.
- Daniella Santos has been second for the Scarlet and Gray each race this season, with Akemi Von Scherr third the last four times out.
- For the men this year, Jha has been the Buckeyes' top finisher three times and was second at Texas A&M. Kevin Agnew has been in the Buckeyes' Top 3 each race and was first for the squad at Wisconsin. Copploe was first for the Scarlet and Gray the last race and was second for OSU in Wisconsin and at Big Tens.Â
- The NCAA Championships will be in Charlottesville, Va., Nov. 18.
