COLUMBUS, Ohio – Freshman Joy Dunne and sophomore Emma Peschel of the Ohio State women's hockey team earned WCHA weekly awards, the conference announced Monday. Dunne is the league's Rookie of the Week and Peschel earned Defender of the Week honors following the Buckeyes' sweep of Bemidji State.

Dunne led the Buckeyes with six points and four goals against Bemidji State to earn her first career WCHA weekly award. The WCHA Preseason Rookie of the Year tallied both her first career goal and first career hat trick in Friday's 9-1 win over the Beavers, the league's third hat trick of the year. Her hat trick was the first by a Buckeye freshman since the 2017-18 season. The O'Fallon, Mo. added an assist in Friday's game to end the day with a team-best four points and finished the weekend +5 and tallied the Buckeyes' lone power play goal of the series.

Emma Peschel blocked a team-high three shots and went +7 on ice in the series against Bemidji State. She added three assists and was second on the team with four points in the series. With her help, the Buckeye penalty kill finished 4-for-4 and held Bemidji to just 24 shots on goal in the series. The Edina, Minn. native is a part of the Buckeye blue line that allowed just one goal against Bemidji State and helped the team to its second shutout of the season with a 5-0 win on Saturday.
