COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State director of tennis Ty Tucker has announced the signing of one of the top players in the 2024 class in Illinois native Nikita Filin.
Filin is a Top 10 ranked recruit in the class according to Tennis Recruiting Network. He has collected eight ITF junior titles and has risen to as high as No. 110 in the world junior rankings. The Glenview, Illinois native was the Boys 18 clay court doubles national champion in 2022 and was also a member of the US Junior Davis Cup team.
"Nikita Filin has proven himself to be the top doubles player in his class in America," Tucker said. "We believe he has the upside to be an upper lineup player sooner rather than later. He has the passion to be great and loves the Buckeyes."
"We can't wait for Nikita to wear the Scarlet and Gray," associate head coach Justin Kronauge added. "He has been committed to the Buckeyes for a long time, and we are getting closer to him making an immediate impact on the court."
Filin is coached by Chicago's finest Mark Bey of the Glenview Tennis Club. Nikita is the son of Al and Natasha Filin and has one brother Alex, who played football at Illinois State.
