Ohio State Fires 4684 In Season-Opening Match at Nebraska

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State University rifle team began their 2023 campaign in Lincoln, Nebraska against the Huskers on Saturday. The team fired a score of 4684 (Nebraska 4698), led by Viktor Kiss who had an aggregate score of 1180.
In smallbore the team finished with a score of 2324, led by Viktor Kiss and Derek Keiser who fired scores of 584 and 583 respectively. Adrienne Hanson got her Buckeye career underway with a score of 579 while Paige Hollowell and Nathan Wehrlen rounded out team scoring with 578s. Lilly Warren equaled Kiss' team best score of 584 while Dylan Gregory posted a 577 in his first competition as a Buckeye. John Hamilton (567) rounded out the team scoring.
In air rifle, the team had a score of 2360 and were again led by Viktor Kiss who fired a 596. He was followed by Derek Keiser (591), Paige Hollowell (591), Dylan Gregory (582), and John Hamilton (580). Adrienne Hanson led the way for Ohio State's individuals with a score of 590 with Lilly Warren (587) and Nathan Wehrlen (575) rounding out individual scoring.
Head coach Ryan Tanoue: "It was exciting to get the season underway for the team and have Andi and Dylan get their Ohio State careers off and running. Overall, there was a mix of positives as well as things to work on and we will have an immediate opportunity to get back on the range when we visit the defending national champions in Fairbanks next week."
Ohio State returns to action with a pair of matches against the University of Alaska in Fairbanks on Friday, October 13 and Saturday, October 14.
