
Six Buckeyes Earn All-Big Ten Accolades

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Six members of the Ohio State women's soccer team have earned All-Big Ten honors for the 2023 season. Emma Sears was named to the first team, Kailyn Dudukovich and Sydney Jones earned second team honors, Peyton McNamara claimed third team honors and Amanda Schlueter and Ava Bramblett were named to the All-Freshman Team.
Sears caps her stellar five-year career with first team honors for the first time. She joined the team at the start of the semester and has three goals and four assists in 12 games. Her four assists are tied for second on the team and her 37 shots are also second on the team. Sears has been one of the best players on the field every match and has been making plays from various spots on the field. The Dublin, Ohio native's 25 career goals are 12th-best in program history and her 65 points have her in 11th on the career list.
Dudukovich got off to the best start to a season of any player in program history with seven goals in the first six games. She has a team-high 11 goals on the year, becoming just the 10th player in program history to have scored 11 or more goals in a season and the first since Nichelle Prince in 2013. She is third in the conference in goals scored and fourth in points. This is the second All-Big Ten honor of her career as she was a third team honoree in 2021.
Jones joined Dudukovich on the All-Freshman Team in 2021 and joins her on the second team this season. The West Chester, Ohio native was named a captain at the start of the season and has been one of the team's top defenders. She has started every match over her first three seasons (57 total) and has played all but 24 minutes this season, which is tops on the team. Jones scored the third goal of her career this season, converting a PK in the game at No. 17 Memphis.
McNamara was coming off a summer where she helped Jamaica advance to the knock-out round of the FIFA Women's World Cup and she carried that right into the season. She has started all 17 matches and has exuded confidence on the field. The Buckeye captain has been a central piece in the midfield, facilitating much of the offense. McNamara scored the Buckeye goal at No. 4 Penn State with a beautiful left-footed volley off a corner kick. She also has an assist this season and has a total of 35 points in her career.
Schlueter and Bramblett have been two of the best freshmen in the conference this season and certainly deserved the All-Freshman Team nod. Schlueter has five goals and a team-high seven assists. Her 17 points are tied with Dudukovich's freshman mark from 2021, tying her for the most by a Buckeye freshman since Paige Maxwell had 18 points in 2008. Bramblett has made 14 starts and has been another central figure in the Buckeye midfield. She scored goals in back-to-back games against Oakland and Ohio and has attempted 23 shots on the year.
The team's third captain, Nina LeFlore, is the program's Big Ten Sportsmanship Award honoree. The Minneapolis, Minn., native has appeared in 12 games this season and had an assist in the win over Oakland. LeFlore took part in the Selma to Montgomery" march last summer which was an immersive and transformational experience that followed the steps of the United States civil rights movement during a trip to Alabama. She is also serving as the Student Athletic Advisory Council president and is the student-athlete representative on the search committee for the next athletic director.
The Buckeyes finished the regular season at 9-6-2 and tied for sixth in the Big Ten standings with 16 points. They will take on No. 19 Nebraska in Lincoln on Sunday in the quarterfinals of the Big Ten Tournament.
