COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 3/3 Ohio State women’s basketball team (15-0, 4-0 B1G) travels to Minnesota (8-6, 1-2 B1G) on Thursday night for the teams’ first meeting of the season. Tip-off is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET in a game broadcast on B1G+.
- Ohio State holds a 15-0 overall record and is 4-0 in conference play following a 66-57 win over No. 14/19 Michigan on New Year’s Eve.
- The Buckeyes’ 15-0 start ties their best in program history, previously achieved by the 2011-12 team. In 2011-12, OSU earned ranked wins against LSU and at Oklahoma as part of the historic start and finished the season 25-7 overall and a perfect 19-0 at home.
- McMahon has four Big Ten Freshman of the Week honors (12/12, 12/19, 12/27, 1/2), the first player in program history to earn the title four-consecutive weeks. She trails only Kelsey Mitchell (6) in FOTW honors in program history.
- Minnesota enters the game with an 8-6 overall record and a 1-2 mark in Big Ten games.
- The Gophers are coming off a 107-85 loss at then No. 16/17 Maryland on Dec. 30, despite tying the Terps in the second and fourth quarters.
- Mara Braun leads four players averaging double figures with 17.5 points per game while Alanna Micheaux leads with 7.1 rebounds per game.
- Ohio State leads 61-16 in the all-time series against Minnesota and has the 23-11 advantage when facing the Gophers in Minneapolis.
- In the most recent meeting, Ohio State earned the 83-75 win in Minneapolis on Jan. 15, 2022. The Buckeyes got off to a strong start but led by one point at the half. OSU used a 26-12 third quarter to hold off Minnesota’s late push. Jacy Sheldon led the Ohio State offense with 32 points while Taylor Mikesell (17) and Rebeka Mikulášiková (11) also scored in double figures. The Buckeyes shot 51.8 percent from the floor.
