COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State (1-0-1) knocked off the Mustangs of Cal Poly (0-2-0) 3-0 Sunday in the final game of the 2022 Wolstein Classic at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium. Dayton was the event winner after knocking off South Carolina earlier in the day, 4-2, to go 2-0 in the event. The Buckeyes finished second followed by South Carolina (0-1-1) and Cal Poly.
How it Happened
Freshman Marko Borkovic scored in the 35' to give Ohio State the lead. Classmate Luciano Pechota and junior Laurence Wootton assisted. Pechota then set up another freshman, Aston Bilow, in the 49' to put the Buckeyes up 2-0.
Wootton then put the Buckeyes up 3-0 after his penalty kick was stopped in the 63rd but he collected the rebound and scored in the right corner. It was his first goal of the season and eighth of his career.
Senior keeper Keagan McLaughlin recorded the shutout, his 11th overall and first as a Buckeye to notch his 14th career victory and fourth at Ohio State.
