No. 10 Buckeyes Fall to No. 20 Wolverines in B1G Tournament Final

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 10 Ohio State women's tennis team fell to No. 20 Michigan, 4-0, Sunday afternoon in the championship match of the Big Ten Tournament in Iowa City, Iowa. The Buckeyes dropped the doubles point and lost three matches in straight sets in the final vs. the Wolverines.
The Buckeyes, the tournament's No. 1 seed, are now 20-5 on the year, with the No. 2 seed Wolverines 19-5. Ohio State, which had an 11-match losing streak end, was making the sixth appearance in the tournament final in program history and has won three tourney titles.
Irina Cantos Siemers and Sydni Ratliff were named to the Big Ten All-Tournament Team.

- The NCAA selection show is set for 6:30 p.m. Monday and will be streamed through NCAA.com.
- Ohio State is looking to make an eighth consecutive and the 18th overall NCAA appearance in program history.
- Last year, the Buckeyes hosted first and second round matches, defeating UIC and Vanderbilt, before falling to eventual national champion Texas in the Round of 16 in Orlando.

"Michigan played really well and deserved that win today. I don't think we handled the pressure well but hopefully we can learn from that. We have had a very good season and one match doesn't define who we are. Hopefully we can dig deep and turn it around for next weekend. I think we can."
In Doubles
- Michigan opened the match with a 1-0 lead after taking the doubles point.
- On court one, the Buckeye tandem of Isabelle Boulais and Kolie Allen fell 6-3 to Julia Fliegner and Jaedan Brown, with the Wolverines winning the final four games.
- The Buckeye duo of Sydni Ratliff and Luna Dormet tied doubles, as they won 6-4 on court three against Anca Craciun and Nicole Hammond. Ratliff and Dormet were down a break early but got back on serve at four-all and then won the final two games, both on the deciding point.
- The doubles point came down to court two. Buckeyes Irina Cantos Siemers and Lucia Marzal were down 5-2 against Andrea Cerdan and Kari Miller before winning back-to-back games for a 5-4 match, but the Wolverines held to clinch the match.
In Singles
- The teams split the first sets, with Ohio State winning on courts three, four and six. The Wolverines were able to close out their three courts in straight sets for the victory, with wins on courts one, two and five.
- Fliegner posted a 6-3, 6-0 win over Marzal on court five to put the Wolverines up 2-0.
- In a matchup of Top 20 players on court one, Michigan's No. 19-ranked Miller won 6-2, 6-2, over No. 8 Cantos Siemers.
- The championship point was clinched on court two. Michigan's No. 92 Jaedan Brown won the first set vs. No. 37 Boulais, 6-3. In the second, Boulais won the final two games to force a tiebreaker, but Brown prevailed, 7-3, with the last four points.
- The other three matches were suspended, with one in a third set, one about to start a third and one still in the second.
- Buckeye Ratliff, ranked 72nd, won the first set vs. Hammond 6-3, with the final three games, but lost the second in a tiebreak. A game had not yet been completed in the third set.
- Allen used an early break on court four against Cerdan to win the first set, 6-4, and the Wolverine won by the same score in the second, taking the final four games. They were tied at a game each in the third.
- On court six, Dormet won the first set, 6-4, against Gala Mesochoritou. They were on serve with Dormet serving 5-6 in the second when play was suspended.
