
Ohio State Dominates Final Day of Jesse Owens Classic

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State track and field team dominated the final day of the Jesse Owens Classic on Saturday at the Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium.
RECORD-SETTING PERFORMANCES:
Adelaide Aquilla broke the women’s outdoor school record, the Jesse Owens Stadium record and the meet record with a 57.38m throw in the discus to beat the competition by more than 10 meters. Aquilla broke another Jesse Owens Stadium record with her win in the shot put (18.94m). The women’s 4x100m relay set a new Jesse Owens Stadium record (43.27) as Leah Bertrand, Anavia Battle, Nya Bussey and Yanique Dayle made up the winning relay.
FIELD WINS:
Hayden Tobias won the men’s shot put with the best Buckeye throw of the season (19.47m). Jaimie Robinson earned her fourth win of the season in the women’s triple jump (12.89m). Abbey Kuhn won the women’s pole vault (4.13m), while Luke Bendick won the men’s competition (5.33m). Tanner Watson earned the victory in the men’s discus throw (58.22m), with the best OSU men’s throw of the season. Shaun Miller Jr. won the men’s high jump with his best of the season (2.16m), while Amaya Ugarte earned her first win of the season in the women’s high jump (1.75m).
TRACK WINS:
Battle won the women’s 100m (11.06) in what would’ve been the school outdoor record, Jesse Owens Stadium record and meet record if not for the wind. Eric Harrison completed the sweep of the 100m by running a 10.11. Bryannia Murphy earned her first win of the outdoor season by finishing the 400m in 52.12, the fastest OSU women’s time of the season. Armani Modeste won the men’s 400m (46.45). In the men’s 800m, Nick Miller earned his second-straight win (1:49.99). Morgan Lewis won the 100m hurdles (13.23), while Oscar Smith earned the victory in the 110m hurdles (13.56). The Buckeyes wrapped up the meet with wins in the women’s 4x400m relay (3:36.48) and the men’s 4x400m relay (3:09.07). Dayle, Aziza Ayoub, Makalah Clark and Catherine Dorsey ran the women’s relay and Kashawn Baptiste, Zidane Brown, Cameron Cooper and Tyrese Fajardo ran the men’s relay.
TOP-10 FINISHES:
- The OSU women had the four-fastest times in the 100m hurdles and five of the fastest nine. Alexus Pyles was the runner-up (13.24), Cierra Pyles was third (13.40), Marcia Sey was fourth (13.55) and Britten Bowen was ninth (14.00).
- Bertrand (11.21), Bussey (11.22) and Dayle (11.34) rounded out the top-four sweep for the Buckeyes in the women’s 100m.
- The OSU men had the top-three times in the 100m with Praise Olatoke (10.29) and Kainnan Ramsey (10.32) behind Harrison and Trey Gardette in sixth (10.58).
- The Buckeye men had the top-three throws and four in the top-10 on the shot put. Carlos Aviles was the runner-up (18.93m) and Joshua Miller finished third (17.87m) with both posting their best distance of the season. Adam Riedinger was seventh overall (16.17m).
- The Ohio State women had three of the fastest-four times in the 400m, with Marsh finishing in 52.52 for second and Chanler Robinson finishing in 54.98 for fourth.
- The Buckeye men finished second through fourth, with Sean Carney leading the way as the runner-up (9:06.21). Nathaniel Tamminga was third (9:07.01) and Nick Regas was fourth (9:32.07).
- Kentre Patterson finished second in the 110m hurdles (13.64), only behind Smith.
- Pyles was the runner-up in the women’s triple jump (12.75m), only behind Robinson.
- The Buckeye women had two more in the top-10 of the pole vault with AnneMarie Moses in sixth (3.58m) and Morgan Fijalkowki in seventh (3.58m). The Buckeye men had two more in the top-five with Robby Oswald as the runner-up (5.13m) and Daniel Drellishak in fifth (4.93m).
- The OSU women had four finish in the top-eight of the 800m. Ayoub led the way with a personal-best time of 2:03.78, good for second place. Mary Figler finished third (2:04.81), while Mallory Mulzer was fifth (2:06.90) and Gia Napolean was seventh (2:11.14).
- Four total Buckeye men were in the top-10 of the 800m. Cooper took third (1:50.87) with Alex Kenish right behind him in fourth (1:51.24). Ivan Slyepkan rounded out the top-10 (1:53.67).
- The OSU men had two more behind Watson make the top-10 in the discus throw – Aviles in third (54.13m) and Tobias in seventh (49.75m).
- The Buckeye men had a total of three in the top-10 of the 400m with Amir Metts as the runner-up (48.29) and Andrew Page in 10th (51.05).
- Lacey Stringer finished third in the women’s shot put (14.54m).
- The second Ohio State men’s 4x400m relay team finished fifth (3:20.05) with Donnie James, Tyler Johnson, Alex Kenish and Amir Metts on the squad.

The Buckeyes travel to the Penn Relays next week, competing Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
