
No. 11 Buckeyes Move to 9-0 in B1G Action with 5-2 Win at Wisconsin

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 11 Ohio State women's tennis team is now 9-0 in Big Ten play after a 5-2 win at Wisconsin Sunday afternoon in Madison, Wis.
Against the Badgers (14-8, 6-3 B1G), the Buckeyes earned the doubles point, as the duos of Kolie Allen and Isabelle Boulais and Lucia Marzal and Irina Cantos Siemers posted wins. In singles, Isabelle Boulais won in straight sets, along with three-set victories from Cantos Siemers, Marzal and Sydni Ratliff, for the team victory. With the Buckeyes up 3-1 and the remaining matches all in a third set, Marzal recorded the clinching point.
Ohio State, 14-1 in its last 15 matches, is 16-4 overall this season. The Buckeyes will host Maryland at 4 p.m. Friday (note the time has been changed from earlier schedules) and Rutgers at noon Sunday to close out the regular season. Both matches are scheduled to be played outside at the Auer Tennis Complex. Admission and parking are free.

"That was a really tough match. Wisconsin has a really good team and I'm proud of how we competed. That's not an easy place to play and we were out there battling in a lot of third sets. We are excited to be back at home next weekend and hopefully getting outside."
In Doubles
- The Buckeyes won the doubles point for the seventh time in the last eight matches, notching wins on courts one and two.
- On court one the Buckeye duo of Kolie Allen and Isabelle Boulais dropped just one game against Xinyu Cai and Alina Mukhortova.
- The Badgers won the court three match, 6-4, but Ohio State's tandem of Irina Cantos Siemers and Lucia Marzal answered with a 6-3 win over Ava Markham and Mia Larrain to clinch the doubles point.
In Singles
- Ohio State won five of six first sets to control singles early, but five of the six went to a third set.
- Isabelle Boulais, ranked 33rd, put the Buckeyes ahead 2-0, as she topped Alina Mukhortova in straight sets, 6-3, 6-4, on court two.
- 8-ranked Irina Cantos Siemers won the first set vs. Ava Markham on court one, 6-3, but the Badger forced a third set with a 6-4 win. The Buckeye did not drop a game in the final set to put a third team point on the board for Ohio State.
- Wisconsin won the next match to get on the board, as Antonela Stoica topped Kolie Allen on court four, 4-6, 6-1, 6-2.
- On court five, Lucia Marzal won the first set against Taylor Cataldi, 7-5, but the Badger took the second, 6-2. In the third, Marzal broke for a 3-1 lead and won the next two games for a 5-1 advantage. Cataldi answered back with three games in a row for a 5-4 match, but Marzal broke, sealing a 6-4 win and the team victory with a cross-court winner.
- On court six, Wisconsin picked up another team point after Luna Dormet retired in the third set.
- The final match came down to a third set tiebreaker between No. 63-ranked Sydni Ratliff and Xinyu Cai on court three. The Badger won the first set, 6-2. In the second, Ratliff broke on the no-ad point to go ahead 5-4 and then served out the set to force a third set. In the third, Ratliff was down 2-4 before going on a three-game run to move to 5-4, but Cai answered with a break for a 5-all match. Each player held, with Ratliff staving off match points in the final game, to send the match to a tiebreaker, where the Buckeye freshman prevailed for the 5-2 team final.
