
Buckeyes Head West to Take on Huskers

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 23 Ohio State women’s gymnastics team heads west to face Nebraska on Monday, Feb. 7 for its first Big Ten road trip of the season. The meet between the Buckeyes (2-2, 2-0 B1G) and Huskers (2-2, 1-1 B1G) will start at 8 p.m. ET from the Devaney Center in Lincoln, Neb. with television coverage by the Big Ten Network.
Ohio State as of Late
- Ohio State enters the matchup against Nebraska with two Big Ten wins under its belt. Last weekend, the Buckeyes defeated Rutgers 196.025-195.750 and earned a 196.450-196.425 victory over Penn State the meet prior.
- Six Buckeyes have hit scores of at least 9.900 this season. Last week against the Nittany Lions, Claire Gagliardi (9.900), Jenna Hlavach (9.925) and Lexi Edwards (9.925) notched 9.900 scores to earn Ohio State the win. Riccardi posted her second straight 9.900 on bars against Penn State as well. Tory Vetter (9.900) and Alexis Hankins (9.900) earned their results on beam and floor, respectively.
- Ohio State picked up two event wins last weekend, scoring a season-high 49.250 on bars and 49.450 on floor. The team has now won three event titles this season.
- Eight gymnasts have earned individual event titles this season, including Stephanie Berger, Edwards, Hlavach, Ella Hodges, Sydney Jennings, Colby Miller, Riccardi and Vetter. Edwards and Hlavach lead the way with three wins each.
- Edwards and Hlavach own team-high scores this season on both vault and floor. The duo has posted a 9.875 on vault and 9.925 on floor this season for Ohio State. Edwards has hit the team-high vault score twice this year while Hlavach has scored the team-high floor score in the last two meets.
- Riccardi posted a team-high score on bars with a 9.900 in the last two meets for the Buckeyes and Vetter leads the team on beam with a 9.900.
- Riccardi ranks 10th nationally with an average of 9.900 on vault this season. Her score places her at third in the Big Ten on the apparatus. Vetter ranks fourth in the conference with her 9.900 beam score.
Buckeyes vs. Huskers
- The Buckeyes are 7-12 in the all-time series against the Huskers, dating back to the 1982-82 season.
- Ohio State and Nebraska met twice during the regular season last year, with the Buckeyes winning both meetings.
- At the 2021 Big Five Meet, Ohio State finished with a score of 195.725 to defeat Nebraska (195.200).
- In a tri-meet with Michigan State and Nebraska, Ohio State earned a team score of 195.325 to earn its first win over the Huskers (194.725) of the season.
- Monday’s meeting in Lincoln between the Buckeyes and Huskers is the first time Ohio State will face Nebraska in a dual meet in Lincoln since the 2004 season.
