COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State begins the final week of the regular season with a lot to play for and a lot of basketball to play. The Buckeyes will play three home games this week starting with a rescheduled game against Nebraska on Tuesday night. Brandon Gaudin and Stephanie White will call the action on BTN. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.
- The Buckeyes 20-4 all-time against Nebraska and 16-2 since the Cornhuskers joined the Big Ten Conference prior to the 2011-12 season. They have lost just once to Nebraska in games played here in Columbus.
- The first meeting this season became known as the “Malaki Branham Game”. The Buckeye rookie had a breakout game, scoring a season-high 35 points on 13-of-19 shooting and 6-of-10 from long range. But Ohio State still needed overtime to beat the Huskers as they were able to pull out an 87-79 victory in Lincoln on Jan. 2.
- The Buckeyes are two wins away from a 20-win season for the fifth consecutive year. They would be just one of three Power 5 teams (Oregon & Kansas) to record 20 wins each of the last five years. Head coach Chris Holtmann’s teams have won 20 or more games in each of the last eight years.
- Ohio State is coming off a tough game at Maryland on Sunday as the Buckeyes shot just 36.2 percent, which was their second-lowest shooting percentage of the season, in a 75-60 loss to the Terrapins.
- Branham led the Buckeyes in scoring in all three games last week and was named the Big Ten Freshman of the Week for the third time this season. He averaged 23.7 points, 3.0 rebounds and shot 57.5 percent in three games which included a sensational 31-point effort in the win at No. 15 Illinois.
- Branham joins D’Angelo Russell and Michael Redd as the only Buckeye freshmen with multiple 30-point games.
- E.J. Liddell is coming off a good week last week that saw him score 16 points in the win over Indiana, 21 points in an emotional game in his home state at Illinois and 11 points at Maryland
- Liddell is the 33rd Buckeye in program history to record 1,000 career points and 500 career rebounds.
- Cedric Russell made 4-of-5 three-pointers in the game at Maryland last Sunday and has now made 292 three-pointers in his career
- Kyle Young has played well in the past couple of weeks. He is 15-of-24 shooting (62.5 percent) in the last four games entering this week.
