COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State begins the first of two games in three days as they host Iowa Saturday afternoon at the Value City Arena. The game was originally scheduled to be played on Feb. 3 but travel cancellations for Iowa forced the game to be postponed to Saturday. Gus Johnson and Buckeye Hall of Famer Jim Jackson will call the action to a national audience on FOX. Tip-off is set for 2:30 p.m.
- The overall series is tied 82-82 between the two programs and the Buckeyes have outscored Iowa by just 26 points in the 164 meetings.
- Last season, the teams split the two regular season meetings with each team winning on the others home floor.
- The Buckeyes are one of four teams tied atop the Big Ten standings with four losses. They are three wins behind Purdue who is leading the way at 12-4.
- After holding steady for three consecutive weeks at No. 16 in both the AP and coaches polls, the Buckeyes dropped to No. 18 in both polls this week.
- Ohio State is 10-0 at home this season and is the only team in the Big Ten with an unblemished mark at home. That is the best start at home since the 2014-15 season.
- The Buckeyes will play five of their final seven regular season games at home.
- E.J. Liddell is coming off his sixth double-double of the season with 16 points and 10 rebounds vs. Minnesota on Tuesday. He is fourth in the conference in scoring at 19.9 ppg, and also holds averages of 7.6 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 2.5 blocks per game.
- Cedric Russell has given the Buckeyes a lift the last two games. He averaged just 11 minutes and 3.9 points per game over his first 18 games but against Michigan and Minnesota, he averaged 10.5 points in 13.5 minutes.
- Similar to Russell, Eugene Brown III has stepped up in the last week. He has missed a total of six games this year with injury and averaged just 12 minutes per game in his first 14 games. But he started the last two games and has played an average of 27.5 minutes in those games and is 3-of-5 shooting with 12 rebounds.
- Jamari Wheeler has at least one steal in all but three games this year. He has 223 in his career which is now 10th all-time in Big Ten history.
- The Buckeyes are second in the conference in field goal percentage at 47.9 percent and have shot 50 percent or better 11 times this season.
- Ohio State is also third in the conference in three-point shooting percentage at 38.0 and has made 10 or more threes in a game 11 times this season. That is tied for the second-most in a season over the last 15 years by an Ohio State team.
