COLUMBUS, Ohio – Week in and week out, Buckeye student-athletes raise the standard of excellence set at Ohio State, whether that be in competition, in the classroom or in the community. ‘Buckeye Spotlight’ recognizes student-athletes who had noteworthy accomplishments both in contests and beyond the box score.
Throughout the 50th anniversary of Title IX, Ohio State Athletics continues to celebrate exceptional female student-athletes and women’s teams throughout history, highlighting a new moment or person every week. Here are this week’s ‘Buckeye Spotlight’ student-athletes:
Cotie McMahon | Women’s Basketball | Fr. | Centerville, Ohio
- Freshman forward Cotie McMahon continued to shine for Ohio State in an 82-57 win against UAlbany on Friday as the Buckeyes improved to 11-0.
- McMahon led the game with a career-high 24 points on 10-of-15 (.667) shooting, including scoring Ohio State’s first nine points of the game. She tied the game-high seven rebounds for her second-highest rebound total of the season and added three assists and two steals.
- McMahon now has three 20-point games on the season. In her freshman campaign, McMahon is averaging 10.6 points, 3.6 rebounds, 2.4 steals and 2.0 assists per game and is making nearly half her field goal attempts.
- She was named Big Ten Co-Freshman of the Week on Monday, her second-consecutive week receiving that honor.
Teresa Ivan | Women’s Swimming & Diving | So. | Charlotte, N.C.
- Teresa Ivan had a stellar week for Team Slovakia, setting seven total federation records at the FINA World Championships in Melbourne, Australia last week.
- She set Slovakia’s 50 free record with a time of 24.61.
- Ivan was also part of six Slovakian record-setting relay teams; the 4×50 free relay (1:40.78), the 4×100 free relay (3:39.23), the 4×200 free relay (8:01.78), the 4×50 medley relay (1:48.51), the 4×100 medley relay (3:59.50) and the 4×50 mixed free relay (1:32.38).
Charlie Clark | Men’s Swimming & Diving | Jr. | Sandusky, Ohio
- Clark competed for Team USA at the FINA World Championships in Melbourne, Australia last week.
- Clark turned in two top-8 finals finishes.
- Clark placed seventh in the 1500 free with a time of 14:33.93.
- He finished eighth in the 800 free, swimming the event in 7:37.54.
Paetyn Levis | Women’s Hockey | Gr. | Rogers, Minn.
- Levis tallied the game-winning goal in the Buckeyes’ 4-3 win over No. 10 Cornell last Saturday.
- The goal put her at 100 points for her career, making her the 15th player in program history to reach the century mark.
- She is the sixth Ohio State player in the last five seasons to reach 100 career points as a Buckeye.
- In 20 games this season, Levis has tallied 18 points on 8 goals and 10 assists.
Marvin Harrison Jr. | Football | So. | Philadelphia, Pa.
- Last week, Harrison Jr. became the first wide receiver in school history to earn unanimous All-America honors.
- A first-team selection on all five “major” All-America teams, Harrison Jr. caught 72 passes for 1,157 yards and 12 touchdowns during the regular season.
- Harrison Jr. is the 37th unanimous All-American in program history and the fourth in the last four years.
Joe Dunlap | Men’s Hockey | Jr. | Windham, N.H.
- Joe Dunlap led the Buckeyes with five points – on three goals and two assists – in a sweep of Bowling Green last weekend.
- On the road Friday, he scored a third-period goal as the Buckeyes won 5-2.
- Saturday in Columbus, he had a career-best four points, with his first career two-goal and first career two-assist night. Dunlap had a team-high eight shots in the contest and was +3 in the 9-4 victory.
- He is on a three-game goal-scoring streak and has a 7-6-13 line this year, matching the career best he set in 32 games last season.
