COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State is set to open its 124th season of basketball this Monday when it hosts Robert Morris of the Horizon League. Tip is slated for a 7 p.m. tip at Value City Arena inside the Schottenstein Center and it will be streamed exclusively on BTN+.
- Ohio State continues its opening homestand on Thursday night when it hosts Charleston Southern at Value City Arena.
- This will be the first all-time meeting between Ohio State and Charleston Southern on the hardwood.
- Ohio State head coach Chris Holtmann is 4-2 all-time against CSU with all six meetings coming while he was head coach at Gardner-Webb from 2011-13.
- Ohio State improved to 6-0 in season-openers under Holtmann as the Buckeyes downed Robert Morris 91-53 on Monday night.
- Justice Sueing returned to the court after nearly a year absence and led the way with 20 points, three steals, two rebounds and two assists. The 20 points were just two-off his OSU career-high.
- Zed Key made the first two three-point attempts of his career and finished with his third career double-double, totaling 13 points and 10 rebounds.
- Isaac Likekele had quite the Buckeye debut, scoring nine points, grabbing nine rebounds, dishing-out six assists, blocking two shots and swiping two steals.
- Fellow transfer Tanner Holden also showed well in his Ohio State debut as he didn’t miss a shot, going 5-of-5 from the floor, including 1-for-1 from deep, to finish with 12 points.
- Freshman Brice Sensabaugh made the biggest splash among the rookies on opening night, scoring 17 points and pulling down nine rebounds. Roddy Gayle Jr. made the first three-pointer that he attempted in his career and finished the night with seven points. Point guard Bruce Thornton dished-out four assists after having 11 in the Buckeyes’ exhibition game.
- Head coach Chris Holtmann is in his sixth season with the program. He has a record of 108-56 record at Ohio State and an overall coaching record of 222-141. His teams have won 20 or more games in each of the last nine seasons.
