
Swimming & Diving Opens Season At Virginia Tech

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 5 women’s swimming and diving team and No. 11 men’s swimming and diving team open the 2022-23 season at Virginia Tech Oct. 28-29. Friday’s meet is slated to start at 5:00 p.m. and Saturday is set for a 10:00 a.m. start.

Women’s Meet Notes
- The Buckeye women are coming off their third straight Big Ten title. The team won six events and 12 individual medals at the Big Ten Championships.
- Ohio State earned a ninth-place finish at the NCAA Championships, earning its first ever back-to-back top-10 finishes.
- 27 Buckeyes earned All-America honors and Director of Swimming & Diving Bill Dorenkott was named the Big Ten Women’s Swim Coach of the Year for the third straight season.
- Ohio State returns 31 student-athletes from last year’s squad, including individual program record holders Hannah Bach (100 and 200 breast), Amy Fulmer (200 free) and Katherine Zenick (100 free) and members of the record-holding 200 medley, 400 medley, 200 free, 400 free and 800 free relay teams.
Men’s Meet Notes
- The men placed second at the Big Ten Championships, earning their 13th consecutive to-three finish. The team won seven events and collected 16 total medals. Alex Quach was named the Big Ten Freshman of the Year.
- The diving team outscored every other Big Ten program with 329 points at the conference championships.
- The Buckeyes placed ninth at the NCAA Championships, which was their third straight top-10 finish.
- The Buckeyes return 32 from the 2021-22 team, including program record-holders Charlie Clark (500, 1000 and 1650 free) and Quach (100 fly) and members of the 200 free, 400 free, 200 medley and 400 medley record-holding relay teams.
- Clark was named to the U.S. National Team for the second time in September and last week was named to the roster for the 2022 FINA World Championships (25m) this December in Australia.
Virginia Tech Notes
- The Virginia Tech men were ranked No. 11 in the first edition of the 2022-23 CSCAA Top 25 Dual Meet Rankings, while the Hokie women came in at No. 24.
- The men’s team is undefeated heading into this week’s meet with wins against George Washington and Duke. The women’s team is 2-1; the Hokies defeated Ohio and George Washington and fell to Duke.

- The women host Akron on Friday, Nov. 4 and both the men and women welcome Denison to the McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion on Friday, Nov. 11.
