COLUMBUS, Ohio – No. 16 Ohio State remains on the road this weekend when it heads to No. 6 Purdue on Sunday for a Top 20 showdown. The Buckeyes are 6-2 in Big Ten play and lead Purdue by a half a game. Spero Dedes and Bill Raftery will call the action for the nationally televised broadcast on CBS. Tip-off is set for Noon.
- The Buckeyes and Boilermakers are meeting for the 183rd time and the all-time series is fairly close. Purdue officially leads the series 90-86 but has held the upper hand in West Lafayette 58-27 and 29-15 in Mackey Arena. The Buckeyes have lost four of the last five trips to Mackey.
- The teams met three times last season. Purdue won both regular season meetings, including a 67-65 win in Columbus on a Jaden Ivey buzzer-beater. But the Buckeyes got revenge in the Big Ten Tournament, winning 87-78 in overtime to reach the semifinals.
- Ohio State is currently ranked No. 16 in both the AP and coaches polls.
- The Buckeyes are a perfect 9-0 at home this season and are the only Big Ten team undefeated on their home floor.
- Ohio State had a milestone win on Thursday Jan. 27 at Minnesota. The 75-64 victory was the 100th for head coach Chris Holtmann at Ohio State and the game also featured E.J. Liddell reaching the 1,000-point plateau.
- Liddell is the 60th Buckeye all-time to score 1,000 career points. He is currently 58th in school history with 1,011 points.
- Liddell got his 1,000th point in a big way as he had 23 points, a career-high 15 rebounds and five assists against Minnesota. He is the first Buckeye in the last 25 years with those numbers in a game.
- Liddell is third in the conference at 19.6 ppg. The last Buckeye to average 20 points per game was Evan Turner during his national player of the year season in 2009-10.
- Jamari Wheeler missed the first game in his career last Thursday at Minnesota as he sat out with a foot injury. He had played in 143 consecutive games up until that point.
- Kyle Young scored 14 points against Minnesota which was his second-highest point total this season.
- The Buckeyes had their two best defensive performances against Penn State and IUPUI and then followed that with their best rebounding performance against Minnesota, out-rebounding the Gophers 48-22. That was the biggest rebounding margin in a Big Ten game since out-rebounding Northwestern by 26 in 2012.
