
No. 6 Ohio State Wins Red Raider Classic With Texas Tech Sweep

LUBBOCK, Texas – The Ohio State women’s volleyball team (5-0) swept Texas Tech (5-2) in straight sets (25-14, 25-15, 25-13) to win the Red Raider Classic on Saturday. Rylee Rader was named Red Raider Classic Tournament MVP after not having a hitting error all weekend while Emily Londot and Kylie Murr joined Rader on the All-Tournament Team.
How it Happened
Ohio State and Texas Tech traded points to begin the match, tying at each point up to seven, before the Buckeyes scored four in a row to take a 10-7 lead. Those four points turned into a 9-1 run leading into the media timeout with a 15-8 Buckeyes advantage. Out of the media timeout, Ohio State had a 4-3 edge but scored back-to-back points to force a TTU timeout as the Buckeyes held a 19-11 lead. The Buckeyes outscored the Red Raiders 6-3 to win the set, 25-14.
The teams traded points to open the second set before six-consecutive points on the floor from the Buckeyes forced a Red Raider timeout as OSU held the early 8-3 lead. Ohio State led by as many as eight, 13-5, before Texas Tech started to chip away at the Buckeyes’ lead. The Red Raiders had the Buckeyes lead down to four, 16-12, before back-to-back OSU points forced a TTU timeout. The Buckeyes outscored the Red Raiders 7-3 to earn the 25-15 victory in the set on a Rylee Rader service ace.
Four kills from Gabby Gonzales helped power Ohio State to an early 9-3 lead in the third set. Texas Tech would come no closer than five points as the Buckeyes stretched the lead to 15-7 at the media timeout. Ohio State led by as many as 10 points as the Buckeyes wrapped up the match with four-consecutive points to win 25-13.

- This is the first time this season that the Buckeyes have hit better than .400, finishing at a season-best .414 (46 kills on 87 attacks).
- Emily Londot and Gabby Gonzales each reached 10 kills in a match for the third time this season.
