COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women’s volleyball team (11-2, 1-2 Big) hosts (RV) Maryland (13-2, 1-2 Big) on Saturday at 7 p.m. inside the Covelli Center. The match will be broadcast live on BTN+ (subscription required). There will be a meet and greet with the team after the match on the east side of the concourse.
The Buckeyes earned their first conference win of the season on Wednesday inside Covelli with a sweep (25-10, 27-25, 25-20) against Indiana.
- OSU was ranked eighth in Monday’s AVCA poll. This marks the fifth-consecutive week the Buckeyes have been ranked in the top 10.
- This is the fourth time in program history that Ohio State has been ranked in the top 10 for five-straight weeks, last doing so to wrap up the spring 2021 season.
- Against Indiana, the Buckeyes surpassed 10 blocks for the fifth time this season, totaling 10.5. The Ohio State defense limited its opponent to hitting less than .200 for the ninth time this season.
- Emily Londot recorded her 500th career kill against the Hoosiers. She’s averaging almost four kills per set (3.99) during her Buckeye career.
- Mia Grunze led the Indiana match with 14 kills, reaching double figures for the fifth time this season. Londot also reached double-figure kills (11), doing so for the 10th time this season.
- Arica Davis led OSU with six blocks – her third-highest total of the season.
- Maryland enters the weekend with a 13-2 record overall and a 1-2 record in the Big Ten. The Terps opened the season 13-0 and beat No. 2 (at the time) Wisconsin in five sets at home to open conference play.
- The Terps suffered its first loss of the season last Sunday at No. 9 Minnesota, getting swept in three sets. On Wednesday, UMD won the first two sets against No. 14 Penn State but ultimately lost the match in five sets.
- Ohio State leads the all-time series 14-5 against Maryland. The Buckeyes won the last four meetings, including two five-setters last season, and seven of the last nine.
- The Buckeyes are 9-1 when facing the Terps in Columbus.
