COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women’s volleyball team (8-0) is slated for a home-and-home against Notre Dame (3-5) this weekend. The Buckeyes first travel to South Bend on Friday for a 7 p.m. match that will be broadcast live on ACC Network Extra. Then on Sunday, Ohio State hosts its first match in Covelli this season at 2 p.m. The match will be broadcast live on ESPN2.

Last weekend, Ohio State won the VCU Invitational with sweeps against James Madison, VCU and Virginia. The Buckeyes began the weekend with a win against the Dukes (25-17, 25-22, 25-14) on Friday. On Saturday, OSU earned victories against VCU (25-15, 25-23, 25-17) and Virginia (25-16, 25-17, 25-18).
Following the completion of Sunday’s match inside Covelli, fans are invited to meet the Ohio State women’s volleyball team. Autographs will be given following social distancing guidelines. Sunday is also youth day and an Ohio State student t-shirt giveaway day.
- OSU moved up one spot to be ranked No. 3 in the weekly AVCA poll on Monday. This is the highest ranking in program history. Last week, the Buckeyes were ranked fourth, which was the highest ranking since the 1994 season. Ohio State began the season ranked 11th.
- Gabby Gonzales was named MVP of the VCU Invitational last weekend after leading the team in kills (42 total, 4.67 per set) and totaling at least 10 kills in every match in the tournament. Gonzales tallied a season-high 16 kills (hitting .443) and a season-high three assists against VCU on Saturday.
- Mac Podraza and Rylee Rader joined Gonzales on the VCU Invitational All-Tournament Team.
- Notre Dame enters the weekend with a 3-5 record. Last weekend, the Irish beat Arizona in five sets before falling to No. 1 Texas in four sets.
- Ohio State is the third ranked opponent that Notre Dame will face this season. The Irish also played Western Kentucky during opening weekend as ND fell in straight sets.
- Ohio State and Notre Dame have met in 10 official matches as the Buckeyes lead the all-time series 6-4. The teams most recently met in September 2017 with each program claiming a victory at home.
- The Buckeyes are 3-2 when playing in South Bend and 2-1 when meeting in Columbus.
