Each month, one letter of the word will be highlighted with a specific theme/message
As the Ohio State community comes together for the 2021-22 academic year, Buckeye Inclusion is set to celebrate the theme of RESPECT by featuring how it is embodied by staff, student-athletes and others around campus.
Each month, Buckeye Inclusion will focus on a letter of the word RESPECT with an overall message and theme for how the Department of Athletics embraces this ideal. Those interested can also order a t-shirt that outlines and celebrates the RESPECT initiative. It can be purchased here.
“Respect is a core value embedded in our culture at Ohio State,” said Gene Smith, Senior Vice President and Wolfe Foundation Endowed Athletics Director. “It is critical that as a society we embrace this most important value, and this campaign will allow us to continue to promote its importance. Our student athletes, coaches and staff recognize that we all have to do what we can to make a difference in everyone’s life.”
The campaign begins in August with an overall introduction and then continues from September through April with the following themes:
- September: Recognizing our difference
- October: Everyone is welcome
- November: Stronger together than apart
- December: Pride and persistence is creating a culture of inclusivity
- January: Excellence through educating yourself
- February: Cultivating conversations with others
- March: Take action!
- April: End of year wrap-up
