COLUMBUS, Ohio — Senior Izzy Rodriguez, a defender from Canton, Mich., was named a 2020-21 Third Team All-American by the United Soccer Coaches Thursday.
Rodriguez, the 2021 Big Ten Defender of the Year, is a three-time OSU Scholar Athlete and two-time Big Ten Academic All-Big Ten honoree. She was named one of two Ohio State captains for the 2021 season in early March.
Rodriguez is a veteran of 69 games in an Ohio State uniform. She helped the Buckeyes to an 8-3-3 record this season and over her career to 36 total victories. Ohio State was selected to the 2021 NCAA Tournament. The Buckeyes defeated Stony Brook in the NCAA opener 5-1 and fell to Santa Clara in the NCAA Second Round, 4-1.
In addition to the All-America recognition, Rodriguez and junior teammate Kayla Fischer were named 2020-21 United Soccer Coaches First Team All-North Region. Sophomore Emma Sears was named to the second team All-North Regional squad.
