
No. 8 Buckeyes Post 4-0 Win over Gophers

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 8-ranked Ohio State women's tennis team posted its eighth straight win, as it defeated Minnesota, 4-0, Friday afternoon at the Auer Tennis Complex. The Buckeyes improve to 16-3 overall and 13-1 in Big Ten play.
Ohio State won the doubles point and had singles wins from Lucia Marzal, Luna Dormet and Madeline Atway for the victory. Atway, who paired with Luna Dormet to clinch the doubles point, secured the team victory with her first collegiate dual match singles win.
The Buckeyes will close the weekend against Wisconsin at noon Sunday. The match is scheduled to be played outdoors at the Auer Tennis Complex; in the event of inclement weather it will be moved inside the Ty Tucker Tennis Center.
In Doubles
- Ohio State won the doubles point for the 14th match in a row, with victories on courts one and three.
- The No. 62-ranked team of Isabelle Boulais and Kolie Allen did not drop a game on court one against Dalila Said and Rachel Hanford. Boulais and Allen are 11-2 in dual matches this year and 8-1 in B1G play.
- The duo of Luna Dormet and Madeline Atway clinched the point, as they topped Zeyneb Sarioglan and Lucia De Santa Ana on court three, 6-1. Dormet and Atway are 2-0 this spring.
- On court two the match between Buckeyes Irina Cantos Siemers and Lucia Marzal and the Minnesota duo of Ekin Ercetin and Juliet Zhang was suspended with the Gophers leading 3-2.

In Singles
- Ohio State won in straight sets on courts four, five and six for the team victory.
- On court four, Marzal topped De Santa Ana, 6-2, 6-1. The sophomore has a team-best 17 overall wins (17-3) this season and is 15-2 in dual play, with a 12-1 B1G mark.
- Dormet followed with a 6-4, 6-0 victory against Sarioglan on court five. She is 16-1 overall in 2021 and 14-1 in dual play, posting an 11-1 record in conference action.
- Atway, a freshman, clinched the victory, as she defeated Zhang, 6-2, 6-2, on court six.
- The remaining matches were suspended. Court one was heading to a third set after Cantos Siemers and Hanford each won a set 6-3. On court two, Boulais led Ercetin 6-4, 4-5, and on court three Allen was ahead of Said, 6-2, 5-5.
