Ohio State Wraps Up Spring Drills with 2021 LifeSports Spring Game

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Football returned to Ohio Stadium on Saturday as the Buckeyes wrapped up spring drills by hosting the LiFESports Spring Game, presented by Buckeyes Care.
The game featured a first-half with two evenly matched teams – one team called Brutus and the other called Buckeye. Playing a pair of 10-minute quarters, Team Brutus scored a pair of touchdowns and led 14-0 at the break. The second half was an offense vs. defense scrimmage.
Ohio State’s quarterbacks combined to complete 32 of 51 passes for 357 yards and three touchdowns in the first 20 minutes of the game. Scoring passes when to freshman Marvin Harrison Jr., senior Chris Olave and sophomore Jaxon Smith-Njigba. Five different running backs earned carries.

Defensive coordinator Kerry Coombs served as head coach for Team Brutus while offensive coordinator Kevin Wilson led Team Buckeye. Additional game operation notes included:
- There were no kickoffs. All drives started on the 35-yard line.
- Field goals and extra points were live.
- All punts were fair caught.
- Quarterbacks were in black jerseys and off limits.
- Halftime was 12 minutes and it will feature an on-field performance by the Ohio State Spring Athletic Band.
For the first time since November of 2019, the Buckeyes welcomed back members of the general public to Ohio Stadium. Capacity was capped at 19,180 to accommodate for social distancing and other COVID-19 protocols. Approximately 10,000 seats were given to the Wexner Medical Center and select entities on campus whose staff has cared for and administered to others for over a year by working and serving on the front lines of this pandemic.
