
Ohio State Drops 3-1 Decision to Purdue

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 9 Ohio State women’s volleyball team fell to No. 10 Purdue, 3-1 (20-25, 25-22, 25-22, 25-22), on Friday afternoon inside the Covelli Center. The Buckeyes are 15-2 on the season while the Boilermakers move to 12-5.
Emily Londot paced all scorers with a match-best 23 kills and tied her career mark in digs with 17. Vanja Bukilic matched her season high on 16 kills and Rylee Rader chipped in eight kills.
Mac Podraza distributed 49 assists while Kylie Murr notched a match-high 25 digs. Gabby Gonzales and Hannah Gruensfelder tallied 14 and 11 digs, respectively. Lauren Witte had four blocks, followed by Bukilic, Rader and Londot with two each.
SET 1: The teams went back and forth to start the match until Purdue took at 13-10 lead. A 3-0 scoring run pulled the Buckeyes within two, 18-16, and forced a Boilermaker timeout. Ohio State overpowered the visitors, scoring nine of the last 10 points to win the set, 25-20.
SET 2: The Buckeyes used a 6-1 sprint to go ahead 12-7. Purdue clawed its way back on five straight points to tie the frame at 17-all, which sent Ohio State to its bench. The Buckeyes locked the rally at 21, but fell 25-22.
SET 3: A Witte-Londot block gave Ohio State an 11-9 edge. The Boilermakers stayed close and tied the set at 16-all. Purdue went up 22-19 after putting together a 5-0 run and used that momentum to close the set, 25-22.
SET 4: Ohio State needed a timeout as it fell behind 9-2. The Buckeyes made up the difference with a 9-2 run, tying the frame at 18-all. Purdue earned five of the final seven points for a 25-22 tally.
