
Ohio State Competes in First Session of Big Ten Championship

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – The Ohio State women’s gymnastics team placed fourth in the first session of the 2021 Big Ten Championships with a team score of 195.225.
Jenna Swartzentruber led the team on bars with a score of 9.900, her fourth time this year with a 9.9 or better.
SESSION I RESULTS
Ohio State opened the competition on floor, paced by Claire Gagliardi with a 9.875. Brooke Chesney and Emma Pritchard were the next highest scores for the Buckeyes on a pair of 9.775s. The squad had an overall rotation score of 48.800.
On vault, Lexi Edwards earned a team-high 9.850 and Colby Miller established a new personal best with a 9.800. Ohio State registered a 48.075 for the rotation.
The Buckeyes had a bye for the third rotation and picked things back up on bars, where they scored a 49.225. It was the fifth time Ohio State has scored a 49 or better on the event. Swartzentruber’s 9.900 tied for first place in the first session. Zoe Schweitzer tallied a 9.850 while Pritchard, Miller and Alexis Hankins had a trio of 9.825s.
Ohio State was second overall heading into its final rotation but struggled on beam, recording a 48.225. Miller had the top score for the Buckeyes with a 9.850.
OVERALL RESULTS
After two sessions, Ohio State finished eighth overall. Edwards placed 15th on vault, Swartzentruber tied for fifth on bars, Miller shared 11th place on beam and Gagliardi tied for ninth on floor. Swartzentruber and Gagliardi were named to the Big Ten All-Championship Team.
UP NEXT
The NCAA Championship selection show will take place on Monday, March 22. A total of 36 teams will be selected to compete in the NCAA Regionals, scheduled for April 1-3.
