COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State men’s swimming team will host the 2021 Big Ten Conference swimming championships at the McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion Tuesday through Saturday. The Buckeyes were runner-up last year in an event that finished just before the start of the pandemic. Michigan is the defending Big Ten champion.
The McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion is host to a Big Ten championship for the eighth time. The 2007, 2010 and 2017 men’s championships were previously held in the facility as were the 2006, 2008, 2015 and 2018 women’s Big Ten championships. The spectacular venue has also hosted three NCAA championships: the 2008 and 2018 women’s championships and the 2010 men’s.
Ohio State, under the direction of director of swimming and diving Bill Dorenkott, has finished among the Top 3 teams in the Big Ten Conference at the championship meet for 12 consecutive years. Ohio State won the Big Ten championship in 2010 at McCorkle and they were runner-up the last time the event was held on campus, in 2017.
Dorenkott has guided his women’s teams to five Big Ten Conference championships, including consecutive women’s titles for Ohio State in 2020 and just last week in Minneapolis.
