COLUMBUS, Ohio – After one of the best comeback wins in 2021, the Ohio State women’s volleyball team is hitting the road to take on Illinois. Friday’s match is slated for 6 p.m. ET and Saturday’s contest starts at 4 p.m. ET.

The Buckeyes completed a reverse sweep by taking the final three sets to upset No. 8 Penn State, 3-2, on Wednesday. Ohio State remains undefeated at 7-0 after getting its first win over a ranked opponent this season. Lauren Witte led the defense with nine blocks while Emily Londot had her third double-double (20 kills, 12 digs). Vanja Bukilic and Jenaisya Moore added 16 and 11 kills, respectively. Mac Podraza put up 42 assists and 15 digs. As a team, the Buckeyes tallied a season-high 15 blocks.
SCOUTING ILLINOIS
Illinois (2-4) has not played since Feb. 6 due to its series with Northwestern being postponed. The squad is looking to snap a four-match skid after suffering losses to No. 1 Wisconsin and then-No. 9 Penn State. The Fighting Illini top the Big Ten and stand 22nd nationally with 2.00 aces per set.
HISTORY WITH THE FIGHTING ILLINI
Ohio State trails 46-38 in its all-time series with Illinois, dating back to 1974. The Buckeyes are 16-23 when playing in Champaign and have lost the last six meetings.

The Buckeyes currently sit at No. 4 in the Big Ten behind 14.90 digs per set and 12.55 assists. Ohio State has held its opponents to a .156 hitting clip and averages 13.72 kills, which ranks fourth and sixth, respectively. Individually, Mac Podraza’s 10.21 assists (5th), Kylie Murr’s 3.90 digs (7th), Lauren Witte’s 1.28 blocks (7th) and Emily Londot’s 3.83 kills (7th) ranks among the conference’s leaders.
