Buckeyes Remain 10th in AVCA Poll

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) released its weekly rankings on Monday. The Buckeyes were ranked 10th in this week’s poll. View full rankings HERE.
Ohio State continued its program-record streak in the top 10 as this marked the Buckeyes’ 12th-consecutive week in the top 10. The Buckeyes’ previous record was 10-straight weeks in the top 10 in 2004.
Ohio State (21-5, 11-5 Big Ten) reached the 20-win plateau and 10 wins in conference play for the first time since the 2016 season with a four-set win (21-25, 25-23, 25-19, 25-16) at Northwestern on Saturday. The Buckeyes out-hit the Wildcats in every set as well as the match, .336-.209, and finished strong, hitting 13-of-26 (.500) in the final set without an error. Gabby Gonzales and Emily Londot each reached double figures in kills while Kylie Murr and Hannah Gruensfelder did so in digs. Josie Vondran stepped in and totaled an OSU career-high 39 assists. The Buckeyes earned their first ranked win on the road on Sunday, sweeping No. 25 Illinois (27-25, 25-18, 25-23). Murr moved up to seventh in program history in career digs (1,310) with a team-high 16 on the match while Mac Podraza moved up to 11th in program history in career assists (2,427) with 40. Londot led all players with 14 kills and hit .591, while Gonzales recorded 11 kills. Arica Davis led all players with six blocks, the third time in the last four matches that she’s had at least six.
