No. 10 Buckeyes End Regular Season with 3-3 Tie vs. Wisconsin

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 10 ranked Ohio State men's hockey team skated to a 3-3 overtime tie with Wisconsin Saturday in Value City Arena. The Badgers scored in 3-on-3 overtime for the extra Big Ten point.
The same teams will face off in Columbus next weekend in a Big Ten Tournament best-of-three quarterfinal series. Ohio State (18-11-5, 11-9-4-1 B1G) is the tournament's No. 2 seed, with the Badgers (14-18-2, 7-15-2-2 B1G) No. 7. Game will be at 7 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday (if necessary).
Saturday, the Buckeyes led 3-0 early in the second period on goals from Tate Singleton in the first and Carson Meyer and Tanner Laczynski in the second, but the Badgers scored twice before intermission for a 3-2 game entering the third and tied the score at three at 16:51 of the final period. Neither team scored in 5-on-5 overtime, with the game officially ending as a tie for NCAA purposes.
It was Senior Night for the eight members of the Buckeye hockey Class of 2020 and the group – Wyatt Ege, Miguel Fidler, Ronnie Hein, Tanner Laczynski, Sam McCormick, Carson Meyer, Matt Miller and Gordi Myer – was recognized pregame.

Ohio State vs. Wisconsin
In the First … Buckeye rookie Tate Singleton opened the scored just 2:50 into the game, picking off a clearing attempt in the high slot, spinning and scoring for his sixth goal of the year. Shots were 10-6 in favor of Wisconsin in the period.
In the Second … At 2:08 Carson Meyer put a shot top corner for a 2-0 Ohio State advantage, assisted by Gustaf Westlund and Austin Pooley. Tanner Laczynski converted on a power play at 4:10, putting home the rebound of a Meyer shot. Quinn Preston also assisted on the goal, Laczynski's 10th of the season. At 7:43 Dylan Holloway put the Badgers on the board and Max Zimmer tallied on the power play at 19:17 for a 3-2 game after 40 minutes. Ohio State had the shot advantage, 12-11, in the middle period.
In the Third … Ohio State held its one-goal lead until 16:51 of the third, when Tyler Inamoto scored on a one-timer to tie the game at three. Wisconsin carried play in the third and outshot the Buckeyes, 15-3.
In 5×5 Overtime … Ohio State had four shots on net, with Buckeye goalie Tommy Nappier making two saves.
In 3×3 Overtime … Ty Pelton-Bryce scored 1:04 into the period to clinch the extra B1G point for Wisconsin. It was the only shot on goal in the 3×3 OT period.
Shots … Ohio State was outshot, 38-25, in the game. Nappier made 35 saves in 65 minutes and Wisconsin's Jack Berry had 22 stops in 65 minutes. Ohio State had 18 shot blocks. Gordi Myer led the way with five, while Austin Pooley had three and Meyer and Layton Ahac each had two.
Special Teams … Each team was 1-for-2 on the power play in the game.
